Our Professor gave us the lecture for stone material in this week. Marble is the most famous and historical stone material in Italy. There are various kinds of it. The marble in the Image #2 is the one from Persia; it is now rare and expensive. The stone in the image #4 has metal in it, so the stone itself is magnetic.

we visited the church of Santa Maria Assunta of the Badia Fiorentina for this Friday art visit. The tower in the image #7 is the highest tower in Firenze. Also, this church used to have three entrances but since the other building, which is added to the church and surrounding the coat yard, was constructed, the entrances were switched into one big entrance. We can see the unavailable entrances in Image #8 and #10. Speaking of image #11, it is the Museo Nazionale del Bargello that was used to be a palazzo in the past. Our teacher mentioned especially about the structure and material of it. The material for the construction is the strongest and the most used stone in Italy. Structure wise, there are many stone blocks stacking at the exterior wall. There were wooden walking paths stacked at the exterior walls for guards. So the blocks were used for the supports of the walking paths.
