Shoe Making 17-Master Course 2016 (Student2)

日本から持って来た染色液で試しに革を染めてみました。意外とキレイに染まる事がわかり、次回はこれで靴を作ってみようかと思います!!

I tried dyeing leather pieces using leather dyes I brought from Japan. They turned out better than I expected, so I think will try making my next pair using these dyes.

週末はお友達を家に招待して、シェフコースの友だちと料理を作ることにしました。せっかくイタリアに来たので、パスタのひとつくらい上手になって帰りたいものです。

On the weekend, I invited friends to my flat. I decided to cook meal together with a friend from Chef Training Course. Since I have this opportunity to live in Italy now, I would love to become a person who can cook a dish of good pasta or two before I go back to Japan.

Senatoriというアクセサリー金具専門店が郊外にあります。今週は新しく来た方々と一緒に行ってみました。私は次に作る靴のために小さなバックルを購入しました。

There is a metal accessories shop called Senatori in a suburban area of Florence. This week I visited the shop with new students in the class, and bought myself a pair of small buckles for my next shoes.

マスターコースを取っているため、今月からは新しいプロジェクトが始まりました。今日は市内にある整形靴専門店にお邪魔しました。さまざまな足の問題に対応する、フルオーダーのお店です。

A new project has started this month for the Master Course students. Today, we visited an orthopedic shoe shop. It is a made-to-order shoe shop for people with various foot problems.

オーナーのロッシさんです。これまで出会って来た様々な足の問題を抱えた人達のお話をして下さいました．普段は聞けない貴重な分野の話でしたので、大変勉強になりました。

This is the owner of the shop, Mr. Rossi. He told us about many cases of foot problems he had faced in the past. I learned a lot from this rare and valuable opportunity to hear such interesting stories.

こちらは足にコブがある方の靴です。外反母趾で悩む方から歩くのが困難な方まで、年間で１５０人もの患者さんがいらっしゃるそうです。

These are shoetrees for a foot with lumps. Around 150 people per year visit this shop for their problems such as bunion. In some serious cases, people have hard time to even walk.

インソールを作る行程です。まずは、ケミカル繊維のコルクを付けた木型を用意します。

This is how they make an insole at this shop. First of all, you get a shoetree covered with chemical fiber cork ready.

専用の機械にセットし、圧着の開始です。熱を含んだコルクは大変柔らかくなったあと、冷めると大変堅い状態になります。

After setting the shoetree in a special machine, the attaching process starts. The heated cork becomes soft when heated, and then becomes extremely hard when cooled down.

完全に冷めたら機械から取り外します。かっちかちになっていました。有名なサンダルメーカーもこの方法でつくっているそうです。

You can remove it from the machine when it’s completely cool. It really was very hard. I heard a famous sandal maker was making their sandals with this method.

靴の表面。つまりアッパーはこのように作ります。足裏だけではなく、足の甲にもコブや骨のふくらみがある方がいます。出来上がったオーダー靴は後ろの写真になります。オーダーメイド靴を作るにあたり、学びの多い一日になりました。

There are many people with lump not only in the back of foot, but also on insteps. The picture in the back shows the finished shoe. We learned a lot today about making made-to-order shoes.
