Painting-Drawing 14-Master Course 2017 (Student1)
Last week Professor Alessandro’s lessons I started to do oil paint portrait. First of all I made drawing on free hand establishing the size and placement of the figure and I marked where the shadows and the highlights go according to the composition rules. Then I started to use color variation for the umber & yellow ochre to make the bottom layer of my painting. Next I started to work on background.
Background is an interesting part of this painting. I used cadmium red dark&light, yellow ochre, umber and titanium white and many more colors to make the feeling of the desert environment. Then I marked those geometrical shape of the mud houses in the composition.
Then I back to my figure I used more watercolor type of technique to mark the dark blocks of the face which is help me to get feel of the shapes in the face. This portrait plays with variation of dark color tones. Once I identify and brab the basic value then I start to play with mid tones.
This is how my other classmates work on their own art works with different mediums.
After Monday lesson my fried Brian made portrait painting.
Awesome portrait, thank you once again Brian for the wonderful job.
In Thursday lesson we had new lecture Ms. Gioia for new subject area called Techniques of wall painting. Trompe L’oeil, the name given to this style of painting which achieve the sense of being three dimensional. In other words the painted object is supposed to trick the viewer into believing the object is actually real. It seems interesting next week we going to start our wall painting.
This is how our new explain about how draw straight lines in right manner.
