Today, students continue with the stone setting exercise.
In the previous lesson students were practicing on a flat plate, while this time they use a practice ring.
First, students fix the practice ring to wax base and then punch holes in it.
In this picture you can see the flat plate from the previous lesson, and the ring used for stone setting practice.
Prof. Paolo chooses for the student the drill bit that best fits the stone size.
In order to match the stone size, they carefully carve and enlarge the holes, little by little.
This is another student’s work: the stone has been set in place and the jewel will be completed after the polishing process.
