(February 9) Holiday
In the morning, I went for a walk for about an hour. Since I cook my own breakfast every morning, I decided to have an Italian-style breakfast at a bar today. I was planning to stroll around looking for a good bar, but I found the word “GIAPPONESE” on the signboard and entered the restaurant! The menu I ordered was “Caffe con latte” and, what was it? I found curry bread. Without hesitation, I ordered the curry bread. It was a strange combination, but I had the curry bread warmed up and ate it with a fork and knife. I was able to order and ask them to heat it up with the conversation I had studied. It is a trivial daily life, but I cannot do trivial things as much as I would like in my life as an exchange student. I am glad when I can do it by myself. When I received my curry bread and sat down, I was surprised to hear a Japanese person ask me, “Do you want cinnamon or honey in your curry? I was surprised to hear a Japanese woman speaking to me in Japanese. I decided to stay here! I found my favorite bar for holidays.

（2月9日）休日
朝、1時間程散策に行きました。毎朝、朝食は自炊派なので今日はBARでイタリア式の朝食。良さそうなBARを探しながらの散策予定が、看板に”GIAPPONESE”の文字を見つけ気になり入店しました！注文したメニューは、「Caffe con latte」と、あれ？？？カレーパン発見。迷わずカレーパンを注文。合わない組合わせですが、カレーパンを温めてもらい、フォークとナイフで食べました。勉強した会話で注文、温めて欲しいとお願いもできました。些細な日常ですが、些細な事が思うように出来ない留学生活。自分で出来ると嬉しい。カレーパンを受け取り、席に座ると「シナモン、蜂蜜入れますか？」と、日本語で話しかけられびっくり、何と日本人女性。ここにしよう！休日のお気に入りBAR、見つけました。

(February 10).
Italian class started at 9:00. I have a class with the English team. Today’s teacher is … Italian class in English. I have to concentrate and listen carefully! Slides with pictures are easy to understand, I can feel myself getting a little used to hearing. When I don’t understand something, I cooperate with the Japanese team (laugh). Even adult students studying abroad can make it work, and it is better not to have a fixed idea of what a class should be like. A short break, again in the Italian style? We don’t set a time, but everyone naturally comes back in a few minutes.

（2月10日）
9時からイタリア語授業開始。英語チームと一緒に授業を受けます、今日の先生は・・・英語でイタリア語授業。しっかり集中して聞き取らなくては！絵付きのスライドはわかりやすい、少し耳が慣れてきた感じが自分でもわかる。理解出来ない時は、日本チームで協力（笑）。大人留学でも何とかなるものだ、授業はこうあるべきだという固定概念は無い方がよい。小休憩、今日もイタリア式？時間を決めないが自然と全員数分で戻ってくる。

(February 11)
Italian class starts at 9:00. As yesterday, we are together with the English team. Today’s teacher…Japanese is also OK! During break time, I enjoy asking her about stores she recommends or things that interest me in daily life in the Italian language that I have studied. Today, I asked about opening a window without a screen door, which had been bothering me. Japanese houses always have screen doors to avoid insects, but Italian windows are large but do not have screens, and I wondered if mosquitoes might come in. I am hesitant to open the window because I am afraid mosquitoes might come in. The teacher said that insects will come in, and that mosquitoes are a problem in summer! He doesn’t seem too concerned about it. I am prone to mosquito bites. I was worried. I will look for a mosquito repellent mat when I go to the supermarket! After school, I will head to the gelateria I was told about.

（2月11日）
9時からイタリア語授業開始。昨日同様、英語チームと一緒。今日の先生は・・・日本語もOK！休憩時間に、先生おすすめのお店や、日常生活で気になったことを、勉強したイタリア語で聞くのが最近の楽しみ。今日は、気になっていた網戸が無いのに窓を開けることについて聞いてみました。日本の家は網戸が必ずついているので、虫避けにもなりますが、イタリアの窓は大きいのに網戸がついていないんです、私は蚊が入ってくるのでは？と、窓を開けるのを躊躇ってしまいます。先生は虫は入ってくるよ、夏は蚊が入ってきて大変と！あまり気にしていないようで。蚊に刺されやすい私は今から夏はどうなるんだ？と、心配に。蚊取りマットがあるのか、スーパーへ行ったら探してみます！放課後は、教えてもらったジェラテリアへ向かいます。

(February 12)
It is raining this morning, a light drizzle. Is it raining a lot this season? The folding umbrella I brought from Japan is very useful. It is on my list of things I am glad I brought. However, when it’s raining lightly, there are not many people with umbrellas. What’s that? I’m the only one…students don’t have umbrellas either. By the time I arrived in town, no one had an umbrella. I somehow close my umbrella and head for school. Today is another Italian class. From grammar, a little conversation begins, and I am happy even if it is a small thing when I can shop with the conversation I learned in class. In pairs, we actually read aloud, thought about the conversation and talked about it, and I felt it was easier to get it into my head if I said it out loud during class. After school, we headed to the same gelateria that the teacher had taught us about, because the taste we had the day before was so good that we wanted to try it again. I looked carefully at the menu list to find it, but it was not on the menu. I asked the waitress at the store because I really wanted to try it. I was able to ask the waitress. I will try a different flavor today! I have to decide where to intern, and I am researching various places to eat, but I like this place so much that I keep coming back day after day.

（2月12日）
今朝は雨、小雨です。この季節は雨が多いのかな？日本から持ってきた折り畳み傘、重宝してます。持ってきて良かった物リスト入り。でも、小雨だと傘をさしてる人が少ない。あれ？私だけ・・・学生も傘をさしていない。街中に到着した頃には、誰も傘をさしていない。何となく傘を閉じて、学校に向かいます。今日もイタリア語の授業。文法から、少し会話が始まり授業中に習った会話で買い物が出来ると些細なことでも嬉しい。ペアで実際に声に出して読んだり、会話を考えて話したり、授業中、声に出すと頭に入りやすいと感じた。放課後は、先生に教えてもらったジェラテリアへ、前日食べた味が美味し過ぎて、もう一度食べたくなったので、同じお店に向かいます。メニュー表をじっくり見て、探すもメニューに無い。お店の店員さんに、どうしても食べたくて聞いてみました。店員さんに聞くことが出来た。今日は違う味をトライします！インターン先を決めなくてはと、色々食べ歩きしたく調べていますが、ここが気に入ってしまい連日通っています。
