Nationality: Japan
Course: Graphic Design
Program: OneYear Course
Period: Oct. 31,2016-July 28,2017
I came to Italy right after I graduated from high school to study Italian language and art. I spent my first 6 months in Siena to study at an Italian language school. While I was there, I looked for a good school for graphic design. I went back to Japan once and decided to enroll Accademia Riaci. Because my main art field had always been painting & drawing, I have been learning a lot from the life in Florence surrounded by full of artworks from the Renaissance era. I look forward to learn further more about graphic design based on my past experience.

Graphic Design 2-One Year Course 2017
A few days passed by since Prof. Veronica gave us her advices.
As I kept working on my logos, I noticed the obvious change in my design style. Although little by little, I am getting used to the lectures and starting to recognize the progress in my work, which makes me very satisfied.
I put my name design into the logos to get them all together.
I kept adjusting the size of letters trying to find the best balance as a logo. The professor told us the most important point in this process was to make the letters legible even when made smaller.
It was my last day for the drawing basic lesson.
“Drawing brushes are not pens! Use your whole arm!” With such advices I somehow completed this drawing.
There were only 2 basic lessons, but they sure helped me go back to the basic so I could learn various drawing techniques.
Every Friday we have an Art Visit. In this field trip, I get to enjoy various artworks in Florence. Our first Art Visit was the Duomo (Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore), the symbol of this city. During the Visit, Prof. Barbara acted as a guide explaining about the Duomo and other landmarks in the city and their historical backgrounds as we stroll around Florence.
On the ceiling of the Duomo, there is a drawing of “Last Judgment” by Florentine artists directed by Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari.
If you look at this “Last Judgment” closely, you can find Federico Zuccari holding a booklet and queuing up in a line drawn.
This is a religious drawing based on the Old Testament that I was not familiar with, but this creator’s humor made this drawing much more familiar to me than before.
It’s already been 3 months since I came to Italy, and today I am moving to a new flat.
I enjoyed my days living with many students from various countries in my old flat. In the new flat, I will be living with an Italian lady and her pretty cat.
This new flat is closer to the city center compared to the old flat, so I can even walk to school. Also in a walking distance there are parks and supermarkets, which certainly will make my life easy.
Techno, the cat, waits for me everyday when I come home from school.
On the weekend, I took a walk to a park nearby.
It was such a beautiful day with the sun warming up the air.
On days like this, local people gather at a park like this and enjoy chatting.
Every Sunday we hold a lunch party. We eat and talk a lot about many things.
Since everyone takes a different course at school, we get to hear about other courses. Time with good food and fun talk has become something that I look forward to every week.
