Graphic Design 3-One Year Course 2017

授業を重ねるにつれ、ロゴとして形になって来ました。フォントの部分を調整しながら、全体のサイズを変えていきます。この時、ロゴの大きさを小さくしても文字やデザインを認識出来るようにしなければいけません。

As lessons proceed, my designs are taking shape as logos. When I change the logo size, I must adjust the font size of the letters as well. Designs and letters must be recognizable even in a smaller size logo.

モノトーンで統一していたデザインに色を加えます。先生曰く、デザインは白黒で統一する方が技術が要るのだそうです。白と黒ではお互いに色を殺すか生かすかで全体に与える影響が違うのだと。故に、モノクロで制作した作品をカラーに変えていくのはさほど難しくないようです。
ですが、個人的にこの作業が一番苦戦しています。今まで白黒制作をしていたので中々上手くいきません。

Adding colors to my black and white designs. According to the professor, higher technique is required to create a black and white design, because black and white together can generate totally different effects to the whole design depending on whether they enhance or kill the other. For this reason, it’s not considered so difficult to change a black and white design to a colored one.
However, I am finding this process the toughest of all right now because I’m so used to designing in black and white. Yes, I am struggling.

2回目のART VISITです。この日はサンティッシマ・アヌンツィアータ教会に行って来ました。
サン・マルコ修道院のすぐ近くにあるこの教会は1250年に創建され、その後再建し1481年に完成しました。入ってすぐに目に入るのが壁に描かれたフレスコ画です。この回廊は「奉納の回廊（Chiostro dei voti）」と呼ばれています。

In our 2nd Art Visit, we visited Santissima Annunziata Church. This church, located near San Marco Museum, was established in 1250 and then rebuilt in 1481. The first thing you see as you enter the church is a fresco painting on the wall. This corridor is called the “Corridor of Dedication”.

本堂に入って直ぐに目に入ったのは豪華な礼拝堂です。これは正面、中央祭壇とは反対側にありました。内部は豪華な装飾が施され、天井にさえ細やかな細工が見られました。この教会では元々聖母の為の祈りが捧げられていたようで、名前も「受胎告知（Annunciata）」から来ているそうです。 回廊にあったフレスコ画が聖母をメインとしたものが多いのはどうやらこの為のようです。

There was the small marble temple in the church. It was decorated gorgeously even to the ceiling. As the name of this church “Santissima Annunziata” was derived from “Annunciation”, people used to pray for the Holy Mother here. This is probably why many of the fresco paintings in the corridors were of the Holy Mother.

休日はアルノ川を渡った場所にあるミケランジェロ広場までハイキングをしました。この辺りは地域の方もジョギングコースして利用しています。広場からはフィレンツェの街が一望でき、人気の撮影スポットにもなっています。

I took a weekend hike to the Michelangelo Square on the other side of the Arno River. I see many local people jogging around here. Since you can enjoy the beautiful landscape of Florence from this square, it is a very popular spot for photo shooting.

ミケランジェロ広場を背にして坂を登っていくとサン・サルヴァトーレ・アル・モンテ（Chiesa di san salvatore al monte ）教会があります。落ち着いた雰囲気のこの教会は、休日の午前中にも関わらず人が少ないので、静かにお祈りをするのに最適です。

Walking uphill from the Michelangelo Square, you will find San Salvatore al Monte Church. It’s very calm here with only a few people around, so it is an excellent place to quietly pray the God.

教会を出て暫く歩いたところに自然溢れる不思議な場所があります。
この場所は私のお気に入りで、天気のいい日は地面に落ちる木漏れ日が幻想的に見えます。その場の雰囲気も合間って、まるであのムーミン谷に迷い込んだ気分になります。

Just a bit walk away from San Salvatore al Monte Church, there is a mysterious place full of nature. I love this place because the sunlight filtering through the trees on a sunny day creates a somewhat mystical view. It makes me feel as if I came wandering into the Moomin Valley.

お気に入りのコースを歩いていくと、漸く目的地のサン・ミニアート・アル・モンテ教会に着きます。ここからは更に素晴らしい景色を見ることが出来ました。ミケランジェロ広場には団体観光の方が多く見られますが、ここには個人観光の方しか来られないので比較的落ち着いて見学出来ます。教会内部はフレスコ画が描かれ、主祭壇にはモザイク画が見られます。薄暗い教会内で光る装飾はとても美しく、極たまにその雰囲気の中パイプオルガンの練習を聞くこともできます。
教会を出ると、その脇に古い薬局屋さんがあり、石鹸やロザリオなどが置いてありました。

Walking through my favorite hiking course, I finally arrived San Miniato al Monte Church. You can enjoy even better scenery from here. Different from the Michelangelo Square always bustling with many group tourists, San Miniato is relatively quiet only with solo travelers, so you can take your time to enjoy the visit here. There are many fresco paintings in this church as well as mosaic art with the main altar. Decorations shine beautifully in a dim church, and you get to hear the sound of the pipe organ practice if you are lucky.
There is an old pharmacy right next to this church, and you can purchase things such as soaps and rosaries.

ある日のお昼ご飯です。イタリアと言ったらやっぱりピッツァです。街にはトラットリア（Trattorìa）やオステリア（Osteria)、レストラン（Ristorante）、ピッツェリア（Pizzeria）…などの飲食店がたくさんあります。トラットリアは家庭料理メインの食堂、オステリアはどちらかと言えば居酒屋さんに近い感覚のお店です。ちょっと贅沢をする時はレストラン、友人とのお昼はピッツェリアかトラットリアへ、美味しいものを食べに出かけます。

Popular lunch in Italy is of course a pizza! There are numerous restaurants all over the town, such as trattoria, osteria, ristorante, pizzeria, and so on. Trattoria mainly serves Italian home cooking dishes, and osteria is more like a tavern. For luxurious food and service, I go to a ristorante. And I choose a pizzeria or trattoria for casual lunch with friends.

授業の後には別のコースの生徒さんと色々な話をします。日常的な事から専門的なお話まで。自分の知らない世界の事を知れるので、とても勉強になります。授業後もこうして知識を増やす事ができ、且つ人脈を持てるので視野を広げることが出来ます。自分の専門でない事にも興味を持つ良い機会になっています。

After the lesson, I often chat with students from another course about various subjects, from daily stuff to technical topics. I enjoy learning new things this way. Acquiring new knowledge as well as valuable connection helps me broaden my perspective. It has been providing me a great opportunity to gain interest in the subjects out of my field.
