Graphic Design 4-One Year Course 2017

色付けの作業です。なるべく派手な色を避け、注意がデザインに向く様に工夫します。
色ばかりに意識が行くと、今度は画面が混乱してしまうので、途中で大きさを変えながら空白スペースを入れていきます。

I continued adding colors to my designs. I try to avoid flashy colors so the design itself gets more attention.
On the other hand, if I pay too much attention to applying colors, it can look too noisy. So I insert blank spaces as I change the design size to avoid such noisiness.

行き詰まったりする事が多くなったので、息抜きに他の生徒さんの作業を見学します。
お邪魔になら無い程度に意見を聞く事で、別の角度から自分の作品を見る事が出来ます。
私は未だに配色の仕方がつかめないので、ファッションコースの生徒さんに助けを求める事が多いです。

When I get stuck on ideas which happens a lot lately, I try to relax myself by looking at other student’s works.
I ask for their comments on my work to acquire different perspectives.
Since I’m still struggling with color coordination, I often ask for Fashion Design student’s help.

この日のベーシックレッスンは3Dソフトを使った授業でした。今までPC内でやって来た作業の全てが2D（平面）だったのでとても新鮮に感じました。殆どの方が初心者だったので、先ずは基礎から始めます。教授の決めた物体をPC画面に興します。一つの物の形を制作するのに、様々な図形を使い、組み立て、削っていき、最後に細かい部分を仕上げます。実際に寸法を測りながらの作業なので、画面上で物体の長さを足したり引いたりと頭が混乱しました。

In today’s basic lesson, we used 3D drawing software. Because all our work until yesterday were done using 2D drawing software, it was very exciting. Almost everyone was a beginner with this software, so we learned from the basic. We tried to create an object the professor designated on the PC screen. It takes various shapes to create a single object. By combining and deleting shapes, and adjusting small details at the end, the object finally takes shape. Because we had to carry all these out with measuring the actual sizes, I found it very confusing.

I.Sの時のデザイン教室の様子です。同じ自習時間が重なった方と作業をします。普段はファッションコースの生徒さんとお話しする事が多いですが、この時間にはプロダクトコースの方と一緒に教室を使う事が多いです。作業しながら興味深いお話を聞かせていただいています。

This is the Design classroom during the I.S. (Independent Study). We share the room with the Product Design students who have the same I.S. schedule. I find their study very interesting, too.

この日は待ちに待った滞在許可証申請の日でした。郵便局に届け出をしてから早3ヶ月、ようやく警察署に行く日がやって来ました。引換券を窓口に出し、貰った整理番号の順に指紋をとって行きます。が、これが長い。この日は約3時間待ちました。国が国なだけあり、皆さんとてもマイペースに仕事をされます。番号が呼ばれてもその窓口に人が居ないなんてことも…。因みに私は3時間待って「また明後日来てね！」と告げられ最終的には申請に2日かかりました。

The day finally came for me to get the permit of stay. It’s been 3 months since I turned in the application from the post office, and I was finally at the police station to get it. After I turned in my claim ticket and got a numbered ticket, my longest wait to get fingerprints taken had started. I waited 3 hours looking at workers doing their job at their own pace, and you know what happened?I was told, “Come again tomorrow!” at the end! As a result, it took me 2 whole days to get the permit.

街を歩いていると、たまに面白い落書きや看板を目にする事があります。この写真は、とあるバールのガラス窓に貼ってあった物なのですが、ここに「NO ACQUA SOLO VINO（水無し、ワインのみ）」と書かれています。つまりは「ワインのバールなのに、水なんて頼むな！」と言う、なんともユニークな皮肉になっているんです。

Strolling around in the city, I sometimes find interesting graffiti and sign boards. This signboard on the bar window in this picture says “No water, just wines”. It is uniquely and cynically stating, “This is a wine bar, so don’t order water!”

ここ最近ずっと天気がすっきりせず、ぐずついていましたがようやく数日ぶりにお日様を見る事が出来ました。これはその時撮った、私の部屋から見えた空の写真です。雨雲に夕日の色が反射して、とても幻想的な雰囲気を出していました。

We were finally able to see the sun after a few days of unstable weather. I took this photo out from my flat’s window. The sunset reflection on the rain clouds looked really fantastical.

お家で飼っている猫ちゃんです。実家で犬を飼っていたので、ペットロスはなんとか彼女で解消されています。たまにイタズラをするのですが、この日は干していたタオルに包まっているところを発見しました。ふとした時にドッキリを仕掛けてくるいたずらっ子です。

This cat is my flat mate. I left my dog with my parents in Japan, so this cat fills in the hole in my mind. She acts mischievous time to time, and today I found her wrapped herself in a clean towel. She is such a sweet devil.

毎週日曜日に開催されるホームパーティーです。この日はローマの伝統スパゲッティのカルボナーラをご馳走になりました。日本ではよく生クリームを使われる事が多いのですが、実はカルボナーラにクリームは使用しません。本来はベーコン、卵、パルメザンチーズ、ブラックペッパー、塩、を使ったとてもシンプルな料理なのです。

On Sunday, our usual home warming party was held. We had carbonara spaghetti, which is a traditional pasta from Rome. In Japan, fresh cream is often used to make carbonara sauce. But true carbonara does not need fresh cream. The true recipe is very simple with bacon, egg, parmesan cheese, black paper and salt.

個人製作です。写真を見ながら大まかな下書きをし、ペン入れをしながらデザインを加えて行きます。最近はデジタル作業が多かったので、リハビリで描いた一枚です。しばらくペンを握っていなかったので、感覚を取り戻すまで少し時間がかかりました。機会があれば、また紹介出来ればと思います。

This is my work out of school. I firstly made a rough sketch based on a photo. I then started drawing with a pen adding designs. Because I was busy with digital drawings and was away from hand drawing for many days, I drew this picture as rehabilitation. It took me a while for my hand to recall pen drawing. I will introduce another such drawing if I have a chance.
