Jewelry Making 16-One Year Course 2017
During the start of the week, there seems to be a festival going on at the Duomo. There were a lot of people gathered to see the parade.
This week I am working on soldering the necklace clasp and finishing the lock. For the base I did a floral design. It is difficult to cut out the perfect symmetric shape.
This is how it looks like after soldering. The lock and clasp have to click in order for this piece to be successful.
For stone setting, this is the tool to use which I bought a set from Mealli. It is used to round the rough prongs off and hold the stone in place.
For engraving class, I worked on the earrings using the cotello and piana. The idea is to create leaves with organic curves by first using the cotello to mark and deepen. Then the piana to create a 45 degree angle
My teacher Marco also showed us the different monograms used in engraving. Starting with initials to floral and ornamental designs.
This is a page from the book, the book is decades old and Marco bought it in Germany. The next ring to engrave will be a signet ring with my initials on it.
For lunch, I cooked rice with teriyaki pork chops and broccollis. As nowadays I have a busy school schedule, it is hard for me to have time to cook.
I finished my still life painting of peaches. It is the last lesson for painting and I am very sad because it is fun and I looked forward to class every week.
