I am developing an accessory jewelry brand called KUDANA in Japan.
I have been engraving for a long time, but I wanted to learn Florentine engraving in Italy to improve my skills, so I joined a one-month summer school.

日本でKUDANAというアクセサリー、ジュエリーブランドを展開しています。
彫金は元々やっていましたが、技術の向上の為や本場イタリアでフィレンツェ彫りを学んでみたいと思い、一ヶ月のサマースクールに参加しました。

Jewelry Making Summer Course (#4) – nanao f

I went to Barcelona over the weekend. Barcelona is about 2 hours from Florence airport.It takes about 2 hours to get there. The best part of staying in Florence is being able to visit the neighboring European countries. The Gaudi’s Sacrada Familia, Casabaturio, beaches, tapas, paella, etc. are all different from those in Italy.

週末を利用してバルセロナに行きました。バルセロナはフィレンツェ空港から2時間程で行けます。隣接したヨーロッパの国々を回れるのも、フィレンツェに滞在している醍醐味です。ガウディ建築のサクラダファミリアやカサバトリョ、ビーチやタパス巡りにパエリアとイタリアとは又違う楽しみがあります。

After school in Florence, I attended a home cooking class. The teacher taught us recipes that were appetizing even in the heat of the day. The dishes were eggplant scapece, saltimbocca, salmon cream pasta, and tiramisu. The eggplant scapece was especially refreshing and delicious, especially when served with mint. I brought the tiramisu as a souvenir for my grandmother who lives with me and she was very happy with it.

フィレンツェで放課後ホームクッキングのクラスに出席しました。先生が、暑くても食欲の沸くレシピを教えてくれました。料理は茄子のスカペーチェ、サルティンボッカ、サーモンのクリームパスタにティラミス。特に茄子のスカペーチェはミントと和えてあり、さっぱりしてとても美味しかったです。ティラミスは一緒に暮らしているおばあちゃんにお土産で持って帰ったらとても喜んで貰えました。

I had a Brunelleschi pass that allowed me to climb the Duomo’s cupola and Giotto’s bell tower, so I climbed the most popular Giotto’s tower on my way home from school. 414 steps up, it was tough. It is recommended to get tickets first thing in the morning. The ticket is valid for 3 days, so don’t climb Giotto’s tower and the cupola on the same day.

学校帰りにドゥオーモのクーポラやジョットの鐘楼を登れる、ブルネレスキパスをとっていたので一番人気のジョットの塔に登りました。414段の階段でそれはそれはきつかったです。13時に予約をとってしまったのですが、一番暑い時間なのでチケットを取る時は朝一がオススメです。※チケットは3日間有効なので、ジョットの塔とクーポラは同じ日に登るのはやめましょう。

The next day, we climbed the cupola of the Duomo.
I had heard that it was quite tough, so I honestly did not want to climb it, but since I was going to the trouble, I did my best to climb it. By the way, there were 464 steps. I asked the attendant if there were more steps to go. I will never forget the view from the rooftop.

次の日はドゥオーモのクーポラに登りました。
かなりきついと聞いていたので正直登りたくはなかったのですが、せっかくなので頑張って登って見たところ、天井の壁画が素晴らしく本当に登ってよかったです。ちなみに階段数は464段。係の人に、まだ続くのか?と聞いた所「あと10ステップよ」と言われて屋上に出れた景色は忘れられません。

In the carving class, the teacher taught us a lot and taught us in a short time what we wanted to do there. However, I think I have to keep practicing what I was taught even after I go back to Japan. It was a very good experience that will lead to my future career development.

彫りの授業では、先生がみっちりと教えてくださり現地でやりたかった事を短時間で教えてくれました。ただ、日本に帰っても教えてもらった事をひたすら練習あるのみだと思います。今後のキャリアアップに繋がるとても良い体験でした。

The elderly lady landlord served us handmade pasta. She even served us cake for dessert!
I was really embarrassed at first because I could only communicate in Italian, but it was an experience that I could not have had otherwise.

同居のおばあちゃんが私の為にパスタを手作りして振る舞ってくれました。デザートにケーキまで!
イタリア語しか通じないので最初は本当に困りましたが、中々出来ない体験が出来ました。

On the day we left Florence, we came to see the Duomo for the last time and happened to see the parade on the feast day of San Lorenzo.

フィレンツェを離れる日に最後にドゥオーモを見に来た所、たまたまサンロレンツオの祭日のパレードが見れました。
