It is not a bag
In the painting class we started a new exercise. We watched a bag; we painted its sides and its shapes with different colors trying to get the generic of what we were watching. This technique is called alla prima, which means to do the painting in the first brush. It’s a difficult technique but so fun as well.

No es una bolsa
En la clase de pintura comenzamos hacer un nuevo ejercicio, estuvimos observando una bolsa para representar sus lados, su forma y pintar con colore las diferentes caras que esta tiene, fue un ejercicio algo difícil pues es una técnica que se utiliza para el alla prima que como su nombre lo dice tienes que quedar una pintura a la primera, con el menor tiempo posible.

A classroom for everyone
The photo shows a part of the classroom with easels and paintings of the other courses’ students of the school. They have also a painting class so they can approach and develop techniques and apply to what they are learning.

Un salón para todos
La foto de abajo muestra una parte del salón con caballetes y algunas pinturas, esta pinturas son de otra clase de pintura que es impartida para los compañeros de otros cursos y así puedan desarrollar habilidades que les sirven y pueden implementar en lo que están aprendiendo.

A room full of peace.
This week we visited San Marco museum which used to be a monastery. We wached all the rooms with the frescos on the walls; it was a different fresco in each room but each fresco has a powerful meaning.

Un cuarto de paz
En la semana fuimos a visitar el museo de San Marcos que es un antiguo monasterio, recorrimos cada uno de los cuartos para ver los frescos en cada uno de los cuarto había un fresco diferente aunque al final, comenzaban a repetirse.

Playing to imagine
To make the explanation fun, the teacher started to do interpretations; like it would be in those times. The conversation and explanation was about how the monks made the money and could made the monastery with the Medici help.

Juguemos e imaginemos
Para hacer el recorrido y la explicación más divertida, la maestra comenzó a interpretar una conversación falsa de como hubiera sido en aquel entonces la conversación para lograr construir el monasterio y conseguir que los Medici contribuyeran con dinero. Esta dinámica resulta muy entretenida pues ayuda que uno se imagine mejor como fue la historia.

A travel by time
We walked around the monastery to see it, and trying to be in peace with the place to imagine how it would be to live in that place in those times when everything was so different. I found that being in peace and in that tranquility is very difficult.

Un recorrido por el tiempo
Dimo una caminata alrededor de monasterio para verlo y además tratando de entender como era en aquel entonces la paz y la tranquilidad que se sentían ahí. De igual manera fue una experiencia única pues estar en silencio y tranquilidad muchas veces no es fácil.

The architecture from another time
Florence has much influence in the mediaeval time, but the most import time for Florence is the renascence as well, however you can still find some mediaeval architecture which is recognized by gothic. In the monastery we saw some mediaeval architecture.

La arquitectura de un tiempo y otro
Florencia tuvo mucha influencia en la época medieval pero al mismo tiempo es la cuna del renacimiento puesto que fue ese tiempo el que más caracteriza a Florencia, sin embargo todavía hay ciertos lugares donde la arquitectura sigue siendo de la época medieval, más caracterizada por lo gótico. Dentro del monasterio pudimos observar que tiene tanto influencia renacentista como medieval.

A Real Fresco
The monastery, as everything antique and historical in Florence, has been rebuild for a better appreciation, however inside some rooms you can still find the real fresco of those times, you can see it on the floor as well.

Un fresco verdadero
El monasterio como muchos otros lugares antiguos e históricos de Florencia, fue reconstruido para su mejor apreciación sin embargo dentro de los cuartos se puede contemplar aun lo que fueron los frescos originales de aquel entonces, estos se encuentran debajo del suelo como si fueran ruinas, pues los cuarto modernos se reconstruyeron sobre los viejos.

A friendship for ever
The group that we’ve made this week is a nice group, full of friends. I’ve got to know nice people in the school, we’ve created this wonderful group, and the teacher is very nice, so everything goes good when we all are together. Photo: 08 JPG.

Un grupo inolvidable
El grupo que hemos formado este año con los diferentes compañeros de la escuela, es un grupo que realmente me agrada pues todos tienen algo bueno y lindo que aportar siempre y la convivencia se ha hecho cada vez más rica y entretenida. La foto de abajo muestra al grupo al que me refiero conmigo incluida en ella.

An adventure from a movie
The weekend I went to Siena, one of the nearest cities to Florence. I fell in love with this city because it’s full of alleys and it reminded me a animation movie which I believe it was inspired from this city.

Un viaje de película
En el fin de semana viaje a Siena, una de las ciudades más cercanas a Florencia, esta ciudad me enamoró completamente con sus callejones y pasadizos por toda ciudad, es una ciudad que me recordó a una película animada.

A fairytale picture
In the middle of Siena, there is a castle with a tower; the tallest tower in the city. From that tower you can see all Siena and also Tuscany. You can appreciate the alleys of Siena. But while I was climbing the tower I found this window and I looked at the town because it reminded me a fairytale with this charming view and mediaeval castles.

Foto de cuento
En medio de la ciudad de Siena hay una plaza y un palacio, y el palacio como todos tiene una torre, la torre más alta de Siena, desde ahí se puede ver toda la ciudad y sus callejones. Mientras iba subiendo me encontré con la primera vista de la ciudad que da a otro palacio un poco más lejanos donde también se puede ver una torre un poco más pequeña, esa vista me recordó tanto las películas de las princesas y las torres que antiguas de la época medieval.
