Painting-Drawing 15-Master Course 2017 (Student1)

Contrast is really important when we are starting to learn how to paint. A good knowledge of contrast in drawing helps significantly because it’s the way to learn value of light and dark. On my Monday lesson I start to re touch on my portrait with the highlights which I can use to add more contrast to my painting.

On my Wednesday lesson with professor Alessandro I was so much excited to do my next portrait painting which I was selected the person I like most is my Father. After gently suggesting the basic head shape with slavini, my first step is to put down a complicated strong background colors and make out the basic composition. I used burnt umber, raw sienna, and other mix of colors to get contrast of it.

I think many people get stuck on painting in layers because they don’t know the proper way to do it, why do it. It’s not just about painting one layer and then another and another. The physical part of applying the paint it’s about doing it with your mind. This is how Brian works on his favorite artist painting. I guess he works on his 3rd layer now.

In Thursday lesson we start wall painting with our new lecture. As we discussed last week and finalized the mural and first of all we select which wall is suits for the mural and then we decide the portion of the wall that we need to be covered. Once we have decided on the perfect size, measure the wall several times to ensure accuracy. Finally we use masking tape to marked those lines which is easy to have the colors on it.
