Diana, brush and ink.
This photo shows the drawing of the sculpture that we started the last week. First we began the drawing with pencil, so then we could start with the brush and the ink. It was a bigger paper so that it was a real challenge.

Diana con pincel y tinta
Este es el trabajo terminado de la escultura que comenzamos la semana pasada, primeramente iniciamos el dibujo con lápiz para después hacerlo con el pincel y tinta china. Fue un formato más grande lo que resultó ser un reto aún mayor.

It looks like me
On the photo below I’m drawing the Diana with a brush, what is curiosity on this photo is that looks as I’m drawing me, this is because sometimes we tend to recreate what we are used to see. This technique requires more practice and precision because once you draw you cannot erase.

Pareciera un retrato
En esta foto me encuentro yo realizando el dibujo de la Diana con el pincel, lo curioso de esta foto es que pareciera que me estoy autorretratando, pues uno tiene representar lo que está acostumbrado a ver. Esta técnica requiere mucha práctica y precisión pues una vez que se inicia no se puede borrar.

Sweet goodbye
This week we said goodbye to Cristina, a classmate who has been with us since the begging of the course. She brought cantuccini to the class so we could take some and then we went for a coffee and say goodbye to her. This desert is typical in Tuscany, it is from Prato and you can find it in different flavors but the original is the almond.

Un dulce adiós
Esta semana despedimos a Cristina, una compañera que ha estado con nosotros desde el inicio de la clase de dibujo. Ella llevo a la clase cantuccini para despedirla y a la hora del receso acompañarlos con un café. Es un dulce típico de la región Toscana principalmente de Prato y se puede encontrar en diferentes presentaciones siendo el clásico de almendras, aunque a veces se encuentran con chocolate.

Keep going with the tomato
On painting class, we continued with the tomato, this time we made the medium colors and kept the transparency. Once you start painting more areas, shadows and light with different colors, the object start looking more real taking the shape and the perspective.

Otro tomate
En la clase de pintura continuamos haciendo el tomate, en esta ocasión agregando los tonos medios con las transparencias. Conforme se empieza a agregar el color, el objeto comienza a obtener más fuerza y forma, haciendo que la perspectiva se logre.

Transparency
On this Photo we can find the material that we use to keep the transparency of a color. It’s a fast dying medium with walnut oil so that it makes the bright of the painting and lets the colors blend.

Trasparecía
En esta foto podemos encontrar el material que se utiliza para mantener la transparencia de un color, consiste en un medio para que la pintura se seque más deprisa, mezclado con aceite de avellana y así se crea un brillo en la pintura junto con la trasparencia que permite mezclar mejor los tonos.

Learning composition
We continued with composition and color application during the painting class so we could get something more specific and real on a painting. The composition is done with real fruit and vegetables; therefore we paint what is real and get the real colors. This is the look and the colors that I see when I paint.

Aprendiendo composición
Continuamos con la composición y la aplicación de color durante la clase de pintura para hacer esto más específico y real. La composición la hacemos con frutas y verduras reales pues es mejor pintar lo que es la naturaleza verdadera y el color de algo natural. En la foto se puede ver la composición y los colores desde donde yo he estado pintando.

The oil nobleness
Due to the change of the composition and to precise the color, I started my painting again, however this is when you can learn how noble the oil is. Oil lets you start again, even with the painting you had before, and also it helps to rescue what has been done.

La nobleza del oleo
Por el cambio de composición y el precisar el color, comencé de nuevo mi pintura, sin embargo en estas ocasiones es donde uno puede ver la nobleza que tiene el óleo pues te permite volver a comenzar partiendo de lo que llevabas, además de poder incorporar lo que ya se tenía.

Project 1
In the master class, we reviewed the project last week, so for this week, I had to hand over a new project. This project was about the last one but with the correction from the first review. I made something new with three images showing different parts of the butterfly body, so once again, we found how to improve these images and made correction on them so that these could have something better.

Proyecto 1
En la clase de maestría, tuvimos la revisión del proyecto la semana pasada, para esta semana se debía de entregar un nuevo proyecto en base a las correcciones que se vieron y se tomaron de la primera revisión. Creé un nuevo proyecto que constaba de tres imágenes juntas mostrando las diferentes partes de una mariposa, al tener la revisión esta semana encontramos modificaciones que hacerle y al mismo tiempo como mejorar las imágenes para maximizarlas.

A place full of peace
For the art visit of this week, we went to Cappella Brancacci, where we appreciated the fresco works. However for me these weren’t the paintings that call my attention; it was the backyard that made me feel a little bit in home. It remained me a place in Mexico. I found the same kind of peace and tranquility surrounded for the nature. This is a place that everyone should come to visit in Florence.

Un lugar de paz
Esta semana en la visita de arte nos tocó ir a la Cappella Brancacci donde contemplamos un fresco. Sin embargo lo que más llamó mi atención en esta visita es el patio que se encuentra antes de entrar a la capilla, me hizo recordar uno de los lugares de México donde pude sentir paz y tranquilidad rodeada de naturaleza. Es definitivamente uno de los lugares en Florencia que cualquiera tiene que ir y conocer.

A fun history
After watching the frescos and trying to feel what the paintings are telling us, the whole class was discussing our thoughts, while at the same time, we had explanation about what is the real meaning. The teacher had an idea to explain with a representation so some of our classmates were doing what they saw and felt by watching the frescos, there was so much fun doing this.

Una historia divertida
Después de observar y tratar de entender lo que las pinturas de la capilla tenían para decirnos, nos reunimos toda la clase para comparar pensamientos y sensaciones, además de una explicación más detallada por la maestra. En esta ocasión le toco a dos de mis compañeros representar una de las pinturas que observábamos haciendo la dinámica muy divertida y participativa con toda la clase.
